00.00.10 Hello, I'm still looking for all informations, documents (audio, visual, text, etc.), contacts regarding experimental, noise, electronic, electro-acoustic music in ALL parts of Africa and Asia for the book I'm currently writing. This includes all I can find from 1944 until now. History, biography, discography, websites, social aspect, censorship and so on. I already collected more than 100 records, hundreds of contacts, hundreds of articles and pages but need more, I mostly have a lack of information about sub-Saharan Africa (except South Africa), the Middle-East (except Turkey, Iran, Lebanon, Israel) and central Asia. All info is precious. Thank you ! Since 1989 he has been producing various styles such as noise, sound art, electro, industrial, breakcore and more and performed with a lot of artists around the world (Europe, North America, North Africa, East-Asia, the Middle-East) recording inside projects like Axiome, Crno Klank, Tetra Plok, and many more, collaborating with numerous artists (Yan Jun, Mick Harris, Marc Spybey, David Thrussel, Li Chin Sung, Nakamura Yuji, to speak about a few). He produces music for short movies, dance and theatre. Running the label Syrphe - which is mostly focused on producing avant-garde, electronic and experimental music from Africa and Asia - he is currently giving a series of lectures about this avant-garde scene from both "forgotten" continents and writes a book around this subject. Oscar Martín holds a Fine Arts degree from the Universidad Politecnica of Valencia, specializing in Sculpture and Audiovisual Media. That is where he came into contact with sound art through Leopoldo Amigo y Bartolomé Ferrando. A sound explorer, he bases his work on the deconstruction of field recordings and the creative use of technology errors. Luthier-digital with a “pure data” environment, which he uses to develop his own experimental tools for processing and real time algorithmic-generative composition. He can be placed somewhere between Computer Music, the Aesthetics of Error, and generative noise. He seeks the creation of virtual sound universes, imaginary soundscapes that encourage active listening and a different sensibility toward the perception of sound phenomena. He works under the open source paradigm. All his work is published under Creative Commons licence, by different recording labels and netlabels (dronerecords, tecnoNucleo, costellam, etc.) His music has been presented both as a solo artists (noise dreams machina, noish~) and along with a variety of collaborative projects (segmentation Fault with Xavi Manzanares, Mecanikas Moebius with Javier Marisco) in different spaces and national/international festivals. 31.05.10 The distribution catalogue has been put on line again, you can find the page here, it doesn't look perfect but will soon updated. We will also record our new album by that time all together in Rotterdam. Both evenings with Moljebka pvlse, Seventeen migs of Springs and Special olympics were really nice and I thank all the people who organised, supported and joined. This last live has been audio recorded and I will sort out some of the lives of Črno klank I gave in Israel, Greece and France the past few year to publish them sometimes somewhere (drone, noise, electro-acoustic, dark ambient). Another old school undustrial record (yes, you know this stuff with metal cans, tools, pedals and electronics) is on the way too and the "band" will be back as a collective and not only a one man project anymore. We played yesterday a public recording session of The klank of črno migs at Zimmer in Tel Aviv too so we have some more material to mix and release now, I guess 2009 will see two new records of the band. So I stay in Israel and have to dj and perform here this and next month. Some reviews of our new productions have been posted on Vital Weekly (in English) and Octopus (in French) : S006, S007, S008, S009. 16.10.08 I'm not sure to have time enough to update the concert/event page the next few days, so : I (as Kirdec) will perform in Jordan at the Middle-East tek this week (we will reach the desert near Aqaba this 17th October, we should come back on the 20/21 Oct.). I will probably dj at the bar 13 (in Levontin) by next week. In November there will be a few gigs in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv of The klank of črno migs, Črno klank, Kirdec, Seventeen migs of spring and many more Israeli band and some international ones. One big event will happen on the 16th of November, the other dates have to be confirmed. I was talking a lot yesterday about different projects and be sure there will be more Middle-Eastern productions on Syrphe for the next future. Also, the Singaporian electronica project One Man Nation will be soon on tour in Europe again, check his MySpace page to get more information. The klank of črno mig will mix the live session they recorded previously this week so you can expect a new record to be released by next year and possibly more (the next live should be recorded and we also still have a recording session made with Obey the migs last spring). Črno klank is working on new stuff here in Tel Aviv too and I do my best to make some more recordings for the side projects like Kirdec and Black Saturn, Kirdec and Le diktat, etc. More news by next week ! 29.09.08 A new Kirdec 3" CD will be out for the Maschinenfest, 2 October 2008 for 5 euros only. 01.08.08
Hello, I played a mini live yesterday for Epsilonia (Radio Libertaire, Paris, France). You can listen it on their MySpace page (last track on the bottom). I guess you can also listen to the full radio show here too by now (Syrphe records presentation and interview, all in French / tout en français). I will come back to Paris each month until October for playing live and/or on the air, stay tuned ! Also, some new songs will be added to my MySpace and Virb profiles within a few weeks. This time including among many other projects, an ambient/noise artist from Tehran, Iran. I sadly can't post him the cd's (you all know what's going on in Iran and all those stupid rules against music...) and would like to know if any of you is planning to go to Tehran in the next future on holiday or whatever else and could bring the package. Or if some have any connexions with somebody working in an embassy who would agree to pass them through a diplomatic pouch. It's the second time I get some troubles like this (the first time it was with Lebanon but we solve the problem !) and I wish to find a solution this time too. Check my blog for more details. 04.12.2007 As you can see on the right side, a list of artists produced on Syrphe has been added under the list of my own projects. You can subscribe to the RSS feed here to keep updated. People in China have to go here. 23.11.2007 Syrphe now distributes some of other label's records and dvd's, find the list here. You will find a bit of everything [noise, electro, experimental, digital punk, breakcore, drum n bass, etc.]. Some productions from China already arrived some more from Malaysia will be added soon. 08.11.2007 A new non-western noise/harsh noise compilation is on the way and might be published by a new side label of Syrphe. If everything works fine there will be some noise artists from China, Indonesia, Singapore, Israel, Algeria, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Lebanon [tbc], Tunisia [tbc], South Africa [tbc]. this should be released around January 2008. Meanwhile, Syrphe is collecting different noise, ambient, drone tracks from all over the planet to be published next year too. This sampler will include some artists from China, Puerto Rico, Canada, Equador, Belgium, Luxemburg, Australia, Indonesia, Latvia, Slovenia and more tba. The cd's of The klank of črno migs and Contagious orgasm & C-drík might be released on the same new label or on Syrphe anyway. Tetra plok, Kirdec, Črno klank are working hard on many new records and collaborations/remixes which will be released next year on different labels in Belgium, France, Russia, etc. Axiome will start to record some new track [this month !] for a new record too. Let's hope it won't take us 25 years to finish it ! Elekore is looking for some gigs in Europe now and later. We will tour Germany the first two weeks of April and perhaps The Netherlands earlier in the year 2008. We are also working on some new tracks. C-drík/Črno klank/Kirdec is still looking for more contacts for the 2008 tour [April-June : Eastern Europe/the Balkans, the Middle-East/North Africa]. 18.10.2007 Hello, I've uploaded a new demo track of Kirdec to my profile [I insist this is only a demo, I still have to correct the EQ, some breaks, add some sounds, etc.], just for the impatient ones. It will be released early next year on a new vinyl. It is called Das gemeinsame Schicksal (The shared fate),written by Friedrich Schiller [1759 - 1805]. I'm writing a book about the non-Western scene in experimental,
electronic, improvised and noise music. Academic and non academic.
During the past few years I've been traveling a lot, mostly
in Far-East and South-East Asia but also a bit in the Middle-East
and North Africa to collect records, tapes, documents, fanzine,
contacts, meet people, talk, etc. I'm still doing a lot of researches
through the net and read many books. 11.07.2007 Hello, I uploaded a very old track of Crno
klank, excerpt of the split tape Cloportes, released by my first
tape label Sépulkrales katakombes in 1992.By that time (1989-late
90's) Crno klank was an old school industrial, noise, minimal
electronic project, so totally different than how it sounds
now.This track is certainly not the best piece of art I have
ever recorded but as some people ask me for those old stuff
I recorded in the 90's, it can be seen as an appetizer.I'm ripping
those tapes (full releases and compilations) on my hard disk
this month and next month and will maybe offer them for free
download on Archive
in September. I'm still not sure all of themwill be uploaded
as while listening to some of those old recordings I was thinking
that some are really dispensable, eh eh. So you can listen -
and download if you are a really big fan - this piece here.
